Hampton Bays is a hamlet (and census-designated place) in Suffolk County, New York, originally settled in 1740 as "Good Ground".

Hampton Bays is crucial to both the commercial and residential character of Eastern Long Island. Containing Shinnecock Inlet, the eastern most inlet leading to the Atlantic Ocean, it is a very popular spot for commercial fishing.
